I am so excited about Rebekah's Blanket of Hope project! I did a lot of stashbusting (and the best kind - partial skeins and leftovers!) to create 9 "squares" and I hope to finish more! Here's what I sent:

I *finally* finished my Filatura di Crosa 501! Awhile ago I bought 10 skeins. I made Katrina Rib. I made a pair of socks. And the yarn still kept showing up! So I decided to work on a second Red Scarf for the Red Scarf Project. Ultimately I finished at least 2 balls of 501 on this scarf, and almost 1 ball of Jaeger Baby Merino. Hallelujah!

A green Odessa hat, a red Odessa hat (when I realized the pattern was for a much smaller head than my own), a Panta headband, a pair of fingerless gloves (nearly finished!), and a scarf I started with Noro Kureyon last night. There's also a drop-stitch scarf in Paton's SWS, but I forgot to include it in the photo.

A Shawl for the Running Bunny's Birthday

I gave Running Bunny Dorothy her Birthday Shawl yesterday, and she loved it! Without further ado, I present it to you. I really love how lace looks on her. After much diving through my stash and searching for patterns, I think I did pretty well -- even if I forgot to measure the final size of the shawl). ;)

I wanted a cover for my computer and had tons of yarn, so I grabbed the first ball of yarn that was relatively thick - Lion Brand Chenille, knit it up then added an edging with some stash Filatura Zara -- a computer sweater!

I'm now hard at work starting a sweater made entirely of stash red yarn!

Hello! I have two stashbusting FOs to share ... I used seven balls of stash yarn. Wooooot!

First - Purple Top Down Poncho from Top Down for Toddlers. I used 1 ball of the old Red Heart Soft. The new Red Heart Soft is different. Second - Bias Afghan. I used 7 balls of Bernat Harmony. Six from my stash and one I had to buy because I didn't have enough. LOL Oh well. I still busted some major stash. :)

Traffic Light / P.O.S.H. Gloves

I realised that I never posted my April stashbust, which I finally finished in July (due to my RSI, I was only able to knit a few stitches a day for the second glove)! These were a gift for my brother (whose birthday was in May, but I didn't actually see him until July so he wasn't to know ;) ), and here he is modelling them (doesn't he have beautiful curls? :) )

These were made from my stash, with my own ridiculously easy pattern. I had two teeny balls - one green, one red, and a bigger ball of black. I decided to just use up all the red and green for the cuffs (which is why the green cuff is wider), and continue on with the black (I still have some of that left).

And the name? Well, I thought they were good 'traffic light' gloves, being red and green. However, when I showed them to a friend she gasped, 'you've made Port and Starboard gloves!' Hence the Port Out (the Port side is indicated with a red light) Starboard Home (indicated by a green light) acronym.

Hello everyone! I haven't forgotten about this kal group. I've just been busy. I have been keeping up on my stashbusting. In June I knit a baby blanket from stash yarn for my cousin's baby (due in August). He and his wife loved it ... I used double stranded worsted weight yarn. The white is Red Heart Soft and I think the green is Red Heart worsted, but it might be Bernat too. I'm not sure though. My July stashbusting project is another baby blanket. I'm doing a log cabin blanket with the instructions from the Mason*Dixon Knitting book. It's coming along swimmingly. I have no pictures of it yet though -- stay tuned! I will probably post one on my blog tomorrow if you're interested. :)

I've finally finished this stole, done with yarn that's been in my stash for 10 years or so (being held up by mom):

Not blocked yet, but I'm still glad it's finished. Happy dance!

Now if I can just use up other stash in significantly less than 10 years, I'll be getting somewhere.

Had a little setback last weekend when I got a humongous batch of coned yarn at a garage sale. Perfect for my knitting machine or hand knitting! But that's hardly stash reduction, is it?

Meanwhile, I'm continuing work on a pink stole from stash yarn, and I just started making some sweaters to donate to the Dulaan Project, also with stash yarn.

The best stashbusting, though, was giving away two boxes and three huge bags of yarn to a fellow Freecycler. These were yarns that people gave to me, or ones that came along with another skein in a grab-bag at the thrift store. Ones I'll never use, so might as well pass them along. So I'm making a dent!

I have been dutifully knitting away on baby sweaters (3 finished with another waiting for seaming), baby socks, and now I will be making a shawl for the Amazing Lace KAL. However, my stash pile still looks like I haven't made a dent! What's a girl to do? Why give away yarn or course! Conveniently SP8 is here, so I have packed up 20 balls of yarn in a box to be shipped out. So, I ask again, does giving away yarn count as de-stashing?

So I bought 10 skeins of Filatura di Crosa 501 way back when. I used 5 1/2 on my Katrina Rib, and so I decided to make some ribbed socks with "the rest":

So now I'm down 7 skeins and still have 3 to go! I'm glad I've done pretty well lately and not bought more yarn, because I can't seem to use it up!

Hello all - thought I'd check in :)

I'm afraid I haven't been able to finish my March stashbust, never mind start my April & May ones!, due to a flare up of RSI. I figured I should stay safe rather than sorry and have an extended break. My stashbust was to have been fingerless gloves for my brother & sister's birthdays... well, my sister got a shop-bought top instead! I have one glove for my brother, and as I rarely see him I'm hoping I can finish the other before I see him (his birthday is tomorrow!).

Hello! My April WIP Reduction Month was a success! I completed my goal projects. Yay! Now I'm ready to move onto my May stash busting projects (which have already been started). I am knitting a feather and fan baby afghan out of some white red heart soft yarn (their old stuff not their new stuff) and a cardigan for my daughter out of the same red heart yarn only in a different colour, and a crocheted stashghan, using up the scraps of Bernat soft bouclé I have laying around the house. My goal is to complete the baby blanket and cardigan by the end of May. I don't know if I'll have the stashghan done by then or not, but if I do that'll just be a bonus! :)

March is done and dusted! It's knitted in Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk and is a fantastic red colour,nothing like this miserable photo!
As an additional stashbuster, I finished some felted clogs.
Before, very boring but stash.

And after, a wonderful thing happened! (this is after the first wash, they went through another one and turned even more pink!)

My april stashbuster will be the the Flower Basket Shawl as part of the EvelynClarke Knitalong, out of Jamieson's Ultra, not old stash, only 5 months old, but still, stash.

This stashbusting has taken on more significance now that I've Flashed the stash! I had to do it in two posts, so much stuff!

I just joined last week, and though I don't have an "official" March project, I did finish one of the WIPs currently surrounding my computer desk near the beginning of the month - a v-and-shell afghan in a colour called "Aqua Sea", edged in off-white. (Alas, I don't own a digital camera, so no picture for now.)

My goal for April will be similar to one previously posted - to finish off some WIPs! Mind you, I also have to do an afghan for my cousin's wedding sometime between now and mid-May too, may slow things down a bit *g*

My stashbusting for April will not be in true stashbuster form. Rather than stashbusting with a new project I am going to use April as a WIP Reduction Month. I have too many (5) projects on my WIP list, ranging from 1% complete to 90% complete and my goal is to have at least 3 of those 5 projects 100% complete by the end of April. Usually I like to keep a maximum of 3 WIPs on the go at one time, but Startitis has gotten the best of me. I just (Saturday) started a baby blanket that will be using up old stash, so my WIP Reduction Month will be partially a true stashbusting month, I guess.

Finishitis here I come!!

I'm glad to join the Stashbusters, and thought I'd start with my latest project. Mittens from Folk Mittens in Lamb's Pride, Chianti and Tiger Lily. I ran out of the Chianti at the thumbs, but filled them out with mismatched purple Lopi. It makes for a STIFF thumb, but I like it better than plain stockinette Tiger Lily!

Hello everyone! I have just decided on and started my March stashbuster's project. I will be knitting the Baby Albert Coat from Sally Melville's The Knitting Experience: The Knit Stitch book. I have a few balls of Phentex yarn in a lovely green (Happy St. Patrick's Day!) in my stash that I will be using. I will probably not finish the sweater by the end of March, but will still count it for March. I'm not sure yet what April's stashbuster's project will be yet. Top left is a picture of the pattern from the book; bottom right is a picture of the yarn.

I have also been doing some other small (tiny) stashbusting. Making baby washcloths out of some Lily Sugar Babies stash and making booties and hats out of small bits of leftover stash.

I made both my father and my brother-in-law scarves for x-mas, and I had leftover yarn. Sicne both their birthdays are in March, they are getting matching hats for their scarves:

I finished a pair of baby socks--They used up the rest of the ball of sock yarn I used for my daughter's socks, and some of a gray wool/cashmere blend I've had on a cone in my stash for awhile.

I also used up the 3 balls of Rowan Big Wool I got for Christmas in a scarf and mitten set for myself.

I've also been knitting dishcloths with the Monthly Dishcloths Knitalong, to use up the big stash of Sugar 'n Cream cotton leftover from my Mitered Square Rug.

In all, since the beginning of February (including my UFOlympics project), I've used up at least 10 balls of yarn! I did have to buy more to finish Fletcher (The UFOlympics project), but the leftovers from that are slated to become a felted bag. That may be the next project I cast on. The only other thing I'm working on now is a pair of socks for my MIL.

Tiny Stashbuster

In addition to using up my stash I'm always trying to use up my oddballs. I have lots of partial skeins of sock yarn. This weekend I made a pair of baby socks based on the Better Than Baby Booties pattern from the 2005 Summer IK.

Then to use up the very last little bit I made an Itty Bitty Bear.

That killed off the whole skein and I happily tossed a yard or so of yarn in the trash. I started a new pair already. I love these little socks.

I completed the two pairs of Mary Jane Slippers I'd planned for birthday presents (although one pair has now become a pre-made Christmas present!).

I have quite a large amount of small balls of yarn - that's the stash I'm trying to bust! This was a great stashbust, I used up all three balls of grey, pink and blue yarn, and made some fun-coloured slippers to boot ;)

I finished my Leaf Lace Shawl knit from Kimmet Farm Fairy Hare lace. I bought it last summer at knitting camp.

My Olympic knitting did not go as well as I had hoped. I ran out of yarn. If anyone has any Cash Iroha in color 14 (dark olivey acid green)I'd love to swap you for it.

I'm also working on Sockapaloooza socks in some Wildfoote that's been sitting around for about a year.

I need to finish a sweater for my husband then I'm anxious to start on another sweater from my stash.

This is my first time joining a group blog, so I'm hoping it all goes OK!

I only have a pretty small stash at the moment, but I have hoarding tendencies so I'm trying to nip it in the bud!

My current stashbusting project is to make two pairs of these Mary Jane slippers, as gifts: the birthdays are next week - but they'll be quick knits (touches wood).

doubled up as my Winter Olympic Challenge. I planned to knit a plain cardigan in red Alpaca silk, aran weight, rescued from Lara, but changed my mind at the last minute and went for the dk weight Alpaca Silk and a top down, any size, any yarn pattern from Spincraft.

I love the way the patterns change (which help alleviate the boredom of working on just one thing for 16 days!).

This should be do-able for the 16 days of the Olympics. Believe me, it's a challenge! Not so much the amount of knitting as sticking with one main project until it's done - I like flitting between wips. I'll be really pleased to use this up, not because it's really old stash, but because it's reclaimed. I knitted Lara last year, didn't like it at all, and eventually frogged it a few weeks ago.

Little Reductions, but Going for the Gold!

Woo-hoo! I have finished hats for my 6 year-old niece, my newborn nephew, and my cousin's son Nick. The fingerless mittens (mitaines are what I like calling them) are for my sister. Slowly but surely I am using up my stash. I have another pair of lace mitaines to sew up for my friend Cathy, and Rasha's Namaste will be finished before our lunch date next week.

My big stash busting project? I will be re-knitting my frogged Clapotis for the Olympics! And to make the challenge even more so, I will attempt Picovoli at the same time. I will probably crash and burn, but I really want to see if I can do more than one big project at a time.

I'm finally ready to participate!

So I joined forever ago, but wasn't in a position to really participate in this group until this month. Had some gift knits to finish, and there was that time period where I didn't really knit at all in Nov-Dec due to pregnancy fatigue.

But I'm back now! I finished my Mom's birthday socks last week, and then knit up some dishcloths. Last night I pulled out the oldest ball of sock yarn in my stash, and started a pair of socks for my daughter.

I don't really have any plans to buy any yarn (other than the Trekking Sock yarn I jsut stocked up on!) this year, and I have a huge backlog of projects I want to do with my stash. So pretty much most of my 2006 knitting will stashbusting!

Emily's socks will be my "February" project. I don't think they'll use up the whole ball of yarn though, so I might get 2 pairs out of it (maybe a pair for her, and a pair for baby-to-be to wear next year).

I finished the raglan sweater for my little Jujube. I used up both balls of mystery yarn stash down to a couple of yards. Phew! I love how this sweater turned out and will surely be making more of these. You just can't beat seamless, knit to fit top-down patterns ;0)

I haven't yet decided what to knit from the stash in February, especially with the knit Olympics and all. I might try to sneak in some mittens or something before the flame is lit.

New Stashbusters project

About a year ago, I got some GGH Trikolore on sale at Lettuce Knit. I had been looking for appropriate projects for it and even started a sleeveless top (of course), but I was adapting it from a Colinette Shimmer 5 pattern book, and the Trikolore and Shimmer 5 do not have the same gauge, so it wasn't working out. Finally I got Hollywood Knits and there are two projects there for that yarn.
On Saturday I casted on for the Serendipitous Cardigan. I'm using 9 mm Brittanys.

I love bulky yarn, by Sunday night I had already finished making the back of the cardigan.

Hi everyone. While I've been dutifully checking out the status of everyone's stashbusting, I've got to say I've been a really bad stashbuster. All my Christmas knitting was shiny and new. No stashbusting there. And...I'm still Christmas knitting. I know. I know. It's MID-JANUARY!

The conscience got to me yesterday (right after I ordered more yarn from elann) and I decided it's not too late for a January stashbuster. I came across this gem of a pattern while looking for a simple roll-neck raglan pattern for an infant sweater. It does involve math (ugh) but it is so well explained and so simple that its worth whipping out the calculator for.

The pattern is custom-fit for anyone in any size and with a wonderful seamless top-down construction. I came across it yesterday and am still feeling warm with excitement.

So I measured my little guy carefully, added some ease, confronted the stash and ta-da: my January stashbuster is on the needles. In fact, I'm already down to the arm-pit. This knit is flying off the needles. Bonus: I can try it on really easily as I go to get the perfect width and length.

I'm ga-ga over this pattern. Did I mention that it is free!Ah, the Internet! The yarn is really old stash. It's also unidentified which is totally okay 'cause the pattern is for any yarn and any needle size.

I really feel like I've fallen in an alternate universe...

here's my Winter Sky chenille gloves, designed by moi. they're knitted with bamboo skewers and lion brand chenille. talk about stashbusting--this baby's been sitting for about 3 years! too bad lion brand dropped this yarn. i like it.
the gloves have an invisible aran design on the back of the hand and cabley rib on the cuff. which is why i'm going to knit them again with a more stitch definitive yarn. the yarn is very soft and velvety, very comfortable. this glove pattern will be (i hope) my first good-looking one i design! the last time I tried to design gloves, the fingers turned out all wonky. ewww. these are better.

For January's stashbuster, I'm doing the Log Cabin Socks from Handknit Holidays. Here's the first. I'm currently working on the foot-part on the second.

Combination Stashbusting

I have decided on my January and February stashbusters. They're sort of a combined project because I'm stashbusting the same yarn for both ... is that allowed??

January: Seamless Yoked Baby Sweater.
February: Baby blanket, knit on the bias. It will be similar to this pattern, but will be in stockinette stitch with garter edges, with the little patterned part from the Yoked Baby Sweater inserted every few rows.

Right now I'm about 75% done the baby sweater. I won't start the blanket until February, and hopefully I'll be able to get it done by the end of February. And if I have enough yarn left I will make a matching hat.

The stash I'm busting is a few balls of Bernat Softee Baby that I bought last year (August, I think) for another friend who was pregnant, but didn't get around to using it. It's been sitting in my house for 5 months now and it's time to use it up! This sweater and blanket will be for my cousin's baby (due in May).

Since I haven't had much work lately I've had to dive into my stash rather than buying new yarn, so I've got stashbusting projects all over the place! I'm currently working on:

Bubby from Knitty (1/2 done)
Fingerless mitts (1/2 done)
a baby sweater (just needs to be seamed!)

and making a couple of swatches/part of a baby blanket got me interested in using up the Lion Brand Micro Spun I've been hoarding, so I've just started another stashbusting project: a cardigan designed by me!

First Stashbusting of the New Year

I've been saving a skein of Mountain Colors Alpaca Blend for the right project. And then it hit, Clapotis! So I cranked this baby out in a week.

I have just an eensy bit of yarn left over and I'm quite pleased.

I'm also working on a hat in leftover bits of sock yarn. It's taking forever. I'm dying to dive into my stash and knit a sweater. I have the yarn for at least 5 that I can think of off the top of my head. Not to mention two I knit last year and plan to rip out.

Some 2006 Planning

Now, I don't have a picture, yet, but I have been mentally planning on what I am going to knit out of my stash this year. Yes, some of it is current stash enhancement but that is of course a reason to knit it out of my stash right?! I have one stalled project that I plan on finishing, my Crofter's Vest from Folk Vests and then at least 3 more vests from the stash yarn.

I figured I should finally post that I AM going to be using up some of my stash. My goals for 2006 are listed on the side bar of my website. There are only 10 projects listed .... Ummm ... I'll be like the little train that could since i am bad at finishing projects ... i think i can i think i can i know i can i know i can.

December/November

I felt like November and December were the final sprint points of the year. I finished my thrummed mittens in Fleece Artist Aran and Jae's Cable Toque in Lamb's Pride Bulky. The toque was easy as pie and I finished it in 2 days. Christmas Knitting was sacrificed in the making of these FO's. I love them.

The culmination of Christmas Socks. I finished the last sock on Boxing Day and they still need to be mailed to Nova Scotia but they *are* finished. The orange socks are Crusoe from Knitty it was hard to get the sizing right with the pattern but once I got going they were mindless fun. The yarn is Regia - 4 ply (I think) Canadian Colours (I don't know why Canadian).

The boy socks in Blue and Black are standard simple socks and I have *no* idea what the yarn is. The blue/green/yellow socks on the top are the Grumperina's Jaywalker pattern done loosely for my friend who hates tight socks.

All to be mailed today thank. god. I don't even think these socks will fit after the Christmas gorge fest but my stash has been BUSTED. ha!

Log Cabin Socks

I just finished my Log Cabin Socks. You can see them on my blog. The yarn came to me last year as my Rowan membership gift. Now I have just under 2 skeins of the yarn left and no idea what to knit with it.

I also started a Clapotis with a huge hank of Mountain Colors Alpaca Blend that I bought on a trip to Portland last spring. I had no idea what I was going to do with it when I bought it so it's just been sitting waiting for the right project. Suddenly I felt like I needed a new scarf.

X-mas Stashbusting

Most all of my Christmas presents are stashbusters:
(top pic) This is a mini Christmas Rose bag from Handknit Holidays, by Melanie Falick. I used RH Super Saver in Hunter Green and Cherry Red.

And on the bottom-
the pink scarf - this was made with the Barbie knitter in the background, it's a Christmas present for a five-year-old I know. The yarn was from a "super assortment" I purchased in October. I think it's wool/acrylic. Little tiny pink scarf - this is Bernat Lu Lu, a gift for a two-year-old. Blue and pink doll sweater - this is for my sister's doll. Green scarf - this si also from the assortment, it's a gift for my mom. Pink facecloth - also with Lu Lu, it's for my grandma. I wrapped it up with some bath salts I made. Natural colors blob - this is actually a doll tank top and skirt, also for Anna's dolls. And the black blobs - one is a pair of doll boots, the other is a scarf for my friend. The white sock is excluded, 'cause it's not a Christmas present, it's for the Dulaan Project.
This is a birthday present for Anna (her birthday is the 28th). It's a crocheted poncho made with Super Saver in Cherry Red.

I'm also stashbusting for myself - I'm making a blue striped sweater, also from the assortment. I'm working on the front.

There's more stashbusting going on in my room, and there's gonna have to be a lot more - since I just won a $200 gift certificate to the LYS, I need to free up some room in my stash. Begone with the cruddy acrylics!

I am counting this as my December stashbuster since I haven't finished the baby sweater I had hoped to finish by now. Those sleeves are just not working well! Anyway, I decided to crank out some fingerless mitts for my dad out of one of my many skeins of Cascade Pastaza. It was so quick I am now going to make a pair for my DH and in-laws, further depleting my stash!

My November project is taking a well deserved time out, because the pattern was WRONG WRONG WRONG, but most of my xmas gifts are stashbusting project:
- a pink poncho for my niece with Cascade 220 and Squiggle;
- a baby sweater with Lana Grossa Lambwool;
- a pair of socks with Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport;
- Ruffles with Noro Lily.

September's stashbusting project finally finished

It was in time for Thanksgiving that it was finished, but right after Turkey Day I was traveling, so I didn't have time to update it here. Nonetheless, here is my September project that I finally finished.

I haven't worked on my November stashbusting project in a while (we had a heat wave in California and that took the pressure from "I need a cardi" off), but I have a new stashbusting project, mittens!

As you can see I have almost a whole ball left of Cascade 220 Superwash from this project:

and I am making mittens for afghans for Afghans and to Comfort Indiana Tornado Victims.

There hasn't been absolutely no stashbusting in my house, because there has been a little bit here and there, but there's no way I'm going to have my planned November stashbuster project done by the end of November ... I fear it probably won't get started until after Christmas. I'm doing a couple of hats and whatnot from yarn in my stash, but those projects aren't really big enough to classify as stashbusting, are they? And, I'm bad, I'm actually going to buy yarn this weekend. But it's only because my cousin requested a certain yarn and colour for her Christmas gift, and since it's for Christmas, it's not counted as adding to the stash! *lol*

September's Project in November

Lynette: Although I started Maggie in September, I put the finishing touch on it this past weekend. I'm very happy that my three-month Stashbuster project is complete. And even though I've sworn off mohair for a while, I might have to reconsider after wearing it. It feels great! The details of Maggie can be found on my blog.

Next up is the Lace Leaf Pullover by Teva Durham using Manos del Uruguay in this color, Pewter.

October-November project

I finished my Stashbusters scarf for October-November about 10 days ago.
It's the Rumple Scarf. I got the kit in July, during my trip to London, Ontario.
The actual knitting took me about 10 hrs. The scarf is not that long, but I ran out of the boucle silk (I still have a bit of the mohair, but now I don't know what to do with it, since it's not enough to do almost anything). I started in mid-October, so it took me less than a month to finish it. Of course I was working in about 3 other projects so I didn't spend 100% of my time in this one, but it turned out fine and on time!

Hi all, I've been a member since the Stashbusters blog started, but I guess since I am usually hard-pressed to blog on my own blog, it seemed less of an incentive to blog here. Also I was downsized in June of this year, so I have not allowed myself to buy yarn,at all. So every project I work on at this time, is all from stash. The sad part is, it seems to have taken a small hole, but not nearly enough and I have been knitting like crazy. At this point, I stopped doing the project (large) every month, as I have yet to make that goal. I am going to post a few of my latest FOs here though.

First up, is Donna. A pattern I'd been working on since April and sadly didn't finish until November. Although I did have a few problems with it and it had to sit in time-out sometimes while I figured out stuff like short rows, but in the end, it was worth it.

I've also been working on my Hippy-Chic sweater that I hope to finish soon. This is just a sample of the sweater. Right now, I figured out the sleeve cap wasn't long enough, so I had to go back and knit a few rows and check and see if that will fit into the sleeve. I've joined the sleeves together and picked up stitches for the neck. Once I get the sleeves to fit, I can sew in the sleeves and seam up the sides. Add some buttons and sew in all the ends and get the pockets sewn in and this baby will be done! I can't wait.

November Stashbuster: Check!

I've completed my argyle cardigan from Debbie Bliss' Special Knits and am really happy with how it turned out. You can read more about it on my blog. It ended up using only 2 balls of the blue Bernat Satin in my stash and since I ended up duplicate stitching the pattern, I only needed about 20 yards of the navy yarn for the argyle.

This was my first attempt at duplicate stitch embroidery and I'm hooked. It uses very little yarn and can be used to liven up a boring knit as an afterthought. I'll be doing a lot more of this in the future.

I have what I think is a great story. I helped someone destash a few months ago (selfless, I know ;) and she sent me an extra skein of some yarn I wasn't sure I had anything to do with. Then yesterday I went to Full Thread Ahead's website and noticed that if you bring a knitted item to donate on Thursday (Hollis' birthday) you get 17% off! Well, I was probably going to buy something anyway, and then I realized I had that extra skein, so today I cast on for one of Lu's Dulaan hats. I can't wait to finish my second hat of my knitting career and her pattern is so cute with the i-cord top! I hope to be finished by Thursday for the sale but it will be hard putting my other projects down for that long!

Stashbusting through Christmas knitting

I'm in full swing holiday knitting right now, which means stashbusting has commenced at Chez Craftylilly. I completed my first Christmas gift, two washcloths that I'll pair with some nice soap. I used up two balls of some Sugar and Cream that I've had in the stash for over a year. I got one pattern out of the latest Family Circle Easy Knitting (I think...), and the other from a pamphlet on dishcloths. I think the design would have shown up better on a single color yarn, but oh well.

A Christmas gift accomplished, with a little stashbusting.

Woot! I finished stuff in October I swear!

The first being a Rowan Biggy Print tank top sweater. The name and pattern for which of course are at home far far away from where I am currently "not working" It was an alright knit. It was the first time I'd knit with 15 mm needles and yarn that big. I'm not a huge fan.

My first garment that I'm close to happy about although the armholes are *way* to big. Arms are my nemesis appendage

I also finished the messenger bag from Knitty. The colors are even more beautiful live than they are in the picture. I was very happy with the sari silk. My environmentalist sister loves it and was happy about the recycle factor.

November is the month of Xmas socks and scarves...I just realized how close Christmas is and my face started itching!

A Few New Items

I finished my Ruffled Gloves from Teva Durham's book, Loop-d-Loop. The yarn was a gift from a secret pal.

And last night I finished my Amble socks. These were my September stashbusting project but I took my sweet time finishing them up.

I also dug up some yarn that has been sitting without a purpose for over a year and whipped up a Bobbi Bear last week. This is a really fun, quick project and you can use pretty much any yarn you like. Marti made one from sock yarn this weekend. Super cute.

I'm about to try casting on for the Latvian socks in Folk Socks for the knitalong using Joslyn's Fiber Farm Twinkle Toes I bought at knitting camp last year.

As I mentioned, I was trying to use up some stash with my Twist Barbie socks, but then I got gifted another ball of Wool Ease! So so far I'm breaking even, but I do have a FO:

Up next for November: finishing my 7 x 7 is sweater out of my 10 skeins of Noro Shinano. When I look at the yarn it looks like ground beef but when you knit it up you get some subtle striping, which is really cool!

I am happy to join you all on this great quest: stashbusting. I have a problem stash. I've been knitting for a while but only got serious about it in the last year or so. The problem is that before I got serious, I bought a lot of cheap yarn in weird colours and in quantities either insufficient or way ample for any yarn-appropriate project!

Last week, inspired by this club, I sat down and made a plan for a bunch of my stash and am feeling a lot better about my stash issues.

First up for November: the Argyle Cardigan from Debbie Bliss' Special Knits using (hopefully lots of) Bernat Satin.

My most recent destashing project is my "Twist Barbie" socks made of Lion Brand Wool Ease. I had less than one skein and thought for some reason it would make two socks (!) so instead of decreasing my stash, it grew because I was given one more skein of Wool Ease to match! Oh well ...

I'm also going to do some slight destashing since I'm still buying (!) and can't seem to stop!

September-October Stashbusting

So even if I hadn't joined Stashbusters in September, I totally busted my stash. I had lots of yarn from a sweater that I made last December and ripped in January (didn't even wear it except for taking the picture). I made six scarves that I donated for the bazaar at a hospital.

I already finished the scarves and gave them to the hospital, but here is a picture that I took during the knitting process.

I used a double stranded Patons Shetland Chunky and Patons Divine with 12 mm needles. I casted on 11 stitches and did garter stitch to the desired length (about 61" each scarf).

It was great to finally get rid of all that yarn that I was just keeping at home!

Hello! I thought that I would introduce myself since we have this great new blog!

My blog is FiberAddict.com.

Anyways, I have moved back to Calgary Canada from the States. My husband had slowly been bringing me my yarn or sending it to me. I have received the final nine boxes and they are in my basement. I have been doing more stash organizing than using. However, I have also been going through my old projects that have been laying in mourning for someone to love them enough to work on them again.

I think that my November project is going to be a sweater for my son from my stash. Something I know that I can get done rather easily and will still use up some yarn!
